Gather Global Wisdom Seek Sustainable Development of Human “Eat+Food” Issues

The 4th World Shiology Forum will be held at Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center on October 10-12.

On July 26, the organizing committee of the World Shiology Forum held a press briefing in Haikou, Hainan, announcing that the "4th World Shiology Forum" will be held in Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center on October 10-12, 2023. The main members of the organizing committee attended the press briefing and introduced the basic information of the forum. The relevant leaders of the Department of Commerce of Hainan Province and the Council for the Promotion of International Trade attended the press briefing.

With the theme of “‘Eat+Food’ System and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, the 4th World Shiology Forum will carry on discussions surrounding the sustainable development of the “eat+food” system and its role in promoting the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 4th World Shiology Forum is a provincial exhibition project for the year 2023 approved by the Hainan Provincial government. It is sponsored by the World Chinese cuisine Industry Federation and Beijing Shiology Research Institute, and hosted by Hainan Hotel and Catering Industry Association. It is supported by China International Public Relations Association, China Health Management Association and International Organization for the Prevention and Settlement of Commercial Disputes. The forum will attract experts and scholars from all over the world, with the discussion form of “eat+food” scientists + “eat+food” industry professionals, breaking through the traditional scholars discussion mode of academic conference and combining theory and practice, in order to produce more systematic and achievable solutions.

Mr. Liu Guangwei, the initiator of the forum, introduced that the World Shiology Forum is a prestigious international dialogue platform, founded in 2017 and based on the concept of “Shiology” (“Shi=Eat+Food”), aiming to solve the “eat+food” issues that hinder the sustainable development of all of humanity and seek to establish a “eat+food” order that cares about the needs of the world's 8 billion people. The scientific system of “Shiology”, as the theoretical basis of the forum, incorporates eaters’ health, food acquisition, and “eat+food” order into a whole knowledge system to comprehensively and effectively solve the world “eat+food” issues.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Forum will focus on global food supply ability, food quality and safety, “Shiology” education and promotion, and digital “eat+food” platform construction. The outcome document of the forum will be named “Hainan Island Initiative”, which will be jointly signed by representatives of “eat+food” scientists and “eat+food” industry professionals around the world, advocating the vision of “eating well, eating healthy” and promoting a scientific and rational “eat+food” concept. The document pays special attention to the general education of teenagers in “Shiology” and actively cultivate healthy eating habits. The Forum will also launch a global general “Shiology” education “disk courseware group” for 1.2 billion primary and secondary school students around the world.

In addition, the forum will host the Red Chef Hat charity dinner to donate money and support the United Nations World Food Programme’s Nutrition Improvement Programme for pre-school children. Through this initiative, the forum hopes to make positive contribution to the improvement of the global “eat+food” order.

Chen Heng, vice chairman of the World Shiology Forum, said that Hainan is now fully launching the island closure operation preparation, which will become the world's attention and the development prospects of the Qiong dish industry will be broader. In order to build a exchange platform between Qiong dish and the world characteristic catering culture, the forum will also hold parallel activities such as the first World Qiong dish Industry Development Conference, the ninth Chinese Culinary Artists’ Annual Conference, the Fifth China Catering Industry Brand Conference, the 2023 Red Chef Hat Restaurant Conference, and the thousand People’s characteristic Qiong dish Tasting Banquet, to jointly promote the development of Qiong dish industry and let Qiong dish culture spread to the world.

The organizing committee presented that it expects to further strengthen international exchanges and cooperation through this grand meeting and promote comprehensive and systematic governance of “eat+food” issues. The forum will contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
